Growing up in the northern part of Ghana specifically Upper East Region, I witnessed my grandmother and other women of our community spend nights of sleeplessness to weave a basket and take it to the market forsale. However sometimes they come back with sad faces either because they did not get a buyer or were paid a price that is not worth their efforts. I watched them go through this to feed the family and also take care of us in school. So after finishing my degree in Marketing and searching for a job to no avail, I decided to research for a market for the women who are engaged in craft in my community and the search led me to afrikrea.com My inspiration is to find a sustainable market for their craft which will help alleviate poverty in the community and if possible set up an educational fund for their children.
